We read in Matthew in the beginning Chapter 20 "The kingdom of heaven is like to an householder, who went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard...."then we read "3 And going out about the third hour, he saw others standing in the market place idle." and also"5 ....And again he went out about the sixth and the ninth hour, and did in like manner. 6 But about the eleventh hour he went out and found others standing, and he saith to them: Why stand you here all the day idle? 7 They say to him: Because no man hath hired us. He saith to them: Go you also into my vineyard." When I meditate on this passage, the word"idle" here is applied both on us who have the heart of the"householder" but we are sitting "idle" not working in His"Vineyard" and also on those whom we are bringing to His"Vineyard" which we may call His Sacred Heart ; they are also sitting"idle". And since we have the heart of the householder, we go with Him "early in the morning", "about the third hour", "about the sixth and the ninth hour", and about "the eleventh hour", the whole day, to bring "labourers" into His "vineyard". But what is our reward? Here is His answer in Matthew 11 "28 Come to me, all you that labour, and are burdened, and I will refresh you. 29 Take up my yoke upon you, and learn of me, because I am meek, and humble of heart: and you shall find rest to your souls" and what is this rest that He promises us, if it is not His Peace and His Love. For our souls are restless until they rest in God - St. Augustine.
